Acting with Common Purpose: An Illinois Agenda for Information Literacy
At the beginning of the 21st century, the need for effective information literacy programs has never been greater. At the same time, we have an urgent need for leadership in developing them. In practice, we each work to implement small instructional changes in our own institutions, but often feel isolated from larger discussions and developments. As librarians and teachers, we are called to develop robust and transformative instructional programs. But we can't do it alone. Illinois librarians must work together to achieve our common goals, and to establish this state as the leader in information literacy. During this session, participants will begin a journey down a road to collective success. We will conduct an audit of information literacy in Illinois, identify what would be required to achieve far-reaching goals, and explore possible future steps in our journey together.

Discussion sessions:

  • Developing Teaching Portfolios
  • Regional Library System's Role in Information Literacy Collaboration
  • Faculty Development
  • Information Literacy for the 21st-Century Learner (IMLS grant project)
  • Knowing Our Learners
  • And more
