Visits to Campus:

There are eight mandatory on-campus lab meetings. They will take place in C 168 from 6:30 pm to 9:10 pm on 1/20, 2/3, 2/17, 3/3, 3/24, 4/7, 4/21 and 5/5. Students are also required to take all exams on campus at the testing center.

Course Description:

Scientific methods, biochemistry, cellular biology, cellular reproduction, classical and molecular genetics are covered with an emphasis on processes. Fee is required.

Course Expectations:

The section listed above is a classroom/online course. Classroom/online courses require attendance at some on-campus sessions, though much of the work for the course is done online. Students must be able to stick to a schedule and work independently. Students must have college level reading and writing skills. Late assignments will not be graded. The mandatory labs cannot be made up and credit for the course will not be granted if the labs are not conducted.

Recommended Skills:

Students should be self-disciplined, have a reliable email account, and know how to send an email with a Rich Text Format (.rtf) or Microsoft Word (.doc) attachment. Students should be able to create and open documents using a word processor, and effectively manage computer files and folders (copy, save, back up, etc.). Any student requiring additional help may visit the campus to work with the instructor or tutor.

The college provides a free Blackboard Student Prep Course to help students become successful Internet learners.  These workshops are open to any student who would like to learn more about Blackboard. Students can participate in an on-campus training session or self-enroll in an online training course.  More information can be found on the Online Learning Website in the "First Time Users" section at: http://online.morainevalley.edu/FirstTimeUsers/PrepCourse.htm.

Access to the Course and Blackboard:

This course section will be taught using an online learning management system called Blackboard, which is available via the Internet.  Your course will become available in Blackboard on the official course start date listed on the class schedule. You are expected to login to and participate at that time.

Your username and password for Blackboard is listed on the printed student schedule you receive in the mail. You can retrieve this information electronically using the "Find out your username" and "Find out your password" links available on the Online Learning Website at: http://online.morainevalley.edu.
